It ensures there is security to the computer and all the operating systems in the organization are running smoothly. This procedure provides a detailed framework of management which implements the security controls hence creating awareness to the users making them to be responsible of the information they hold.
It is important to have the information accessible to only those who have been authorized to have access. In a large organization, there is the need to practice confidentiality and know who hold has been given the pass to access the crucial data. Information security ensures that the data is available to all those that need it. This means that the networks and systems are operating accordingly. If you have been given the responsibility to take charge of security of data, you need to avoid careless talk with other people and do not disclose what the documents state. You have been entrusted with the sole responsibility to safeguards the company’s documents and letting out this information is being unfaithful to your employer and a bridge of contract.

The email messaging system should be kept private and all the correspondence should be stored and sorted according to the various departments. Create passwords and keep on changing whenever someone who has knowledge of it gets fired or is moved to another department. You should always act professionally all the time. Unless one has approved encryption, there is no way to guarantee email security. The use of instant messaging services in the organization should be limited and is should not be used to give sensitive information. As a computer network operator, you need to know how to protect information through the internet. You can block sites and attachments that pose as a security threat to the organization. You can also keep track of what other people and organizations are doing through the intranet and the company’s server system.
Security is maintained in the work place where no unauthorized people are allowed to enter the building and getting access to certain floors requires you to have the security pass. Data should also be secured by ensuring secure faxing, scan viruses, have passwords in the system and allays screen lock.
It is mandatory to create passwords that nobody will easily guess or figure out. A good password should at least have eight minimum characters. Keep on mixing between words, numbers, small letters and capital letters. Do not use a password which you easily relate to since hackers will get to the system.
